|  Hi, my name is Mike Blum and as your next State Representative for the 25th District of Missouri, I promise to be a steadfast progressive vote for our Democratic Ideals. Let me introduce myself. I grew up in Herculaneum, Missouri, just south of St. Louis on the Mississippi River. I moved to Columbia fifteen years ago to attend the University of Missouri. I'm the first person in my family to graduate from college. My mom grew up in Alabama, literally picking cotton and my dad was voted hardest worker of his high school class because he worked every day before and after school to make a better life for himself. Growing up in a house filled with respect for a hard day's work and a dollar earned, working my way through college was natural and rewarding, even through the toughest times. I have a Bachelor's Degree as well as law degree from Mizzou, and you know when I applied to Mizzou, I wrote an essay in which I stated you can accomplish anything if you stick to your goals and work hard enough. I strive to live up to that statement to this day.

| After law school I worked as an employee of the State of Missouri in the Department of Social Services and later at the Attorney General's Office. These positions afforded me great insight into the way our government can affect the lives of everyday citizens. Now, as the proprietor of my own law firm here in Columbia, I advocate for positive change in my clients' lives every day. As a small business owner, I understand the importance and the challenge of creating and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for prosperity for our local businesses. And as a graduate of MU, protecting the University of Missouri is a priority and I appreciate the efforts that must be made to preserve this institution and maintain its excellence for generations to come. |  |

I'm the only candidate who can bring the unique combination of a blue collar background and
legal expertise to Jefferson City. The practice of making laws, deciphering
bills, and negotiating policy are a natural progression to the training an attorney receives
both before and during his or her career. I'm the candidate who will stand up to Catherine Hannaway's and Jason Crowell's Republican Party. I will work on building a concensus with the other side of the aisle, listening to the concerns of fellow lawmakers and most importantly my constituents in order to make fair and effective state public policy. With my core principles at hand, I will further the Democratic concerns with each vote, while not opposing to negotiate effective resolutions in the spririt of compromise when it means acceptable progress. I believe in a government that effectively represents all of the people regardless of race, class, or sexual orientation. I believe in a government that elevates the less fortunate. I promise I will never compromise on these basic, but irreplaceable principles. Thank you,
